I'll be at Leadscon in Vegas March 1-3, and at the Daily Deal Summit in NYC April 6th. Ping me if you want to meet up at either one of these events. I also have a limited number if "friends of zozi" discounts for the Daily Deal Summit, ping me if you would like the link to save some $$$.
In chatting with an old friend and talking about "back in the day", I realized it was just about 15 years ago that I got started in online advertising. My first "ad campaign" was for a few hundred bucks for adding some text links to a few simple sites I was running right around this time in '96. It's amazing how much has changed in regards to targeting, analytics, and testing, but also how there really are a lot of creative executions and concepts that have remained effective 10 or even 15 years later.
I've just signed up with a very capable facebook ad management tool, to help manage creative, auto-segment targeting, and measure conversions along those criteria. If you are using a company/tool to help manage and optimize your FB spend, drop me a line so we can compare notes?
I'm just starting to understand some of the advantages of "over-testing".....so if you are versed in that arena and don't mind giving some advice, I'd appreciate a few minutes of someones exertise there as well.
Very interesting, I've been using Mechanical Turk to help compile some business listings -- my first time using the service in a number of years. I decided to review some requests made by other people, to better understand how to write my requests. I'm amazed at the amount of affiliate fraud! There are tons of offers paying people to fill out a form via an affiliate URL. There are even lots of examples of more advanced fraud where they give the person a script to read from, when the lead gen companies calls about the form that was just filled out......and even more complex schemes.
A most interesting service would be one that grabbed every URL in every MTURK job request (called a HIT), followed the URL to its end destination URL (as most go through redirects and/or shortning services), and then provided to affiliate companies this list of URLs, that were posted in an attempt to generate illegitimate leads.
Doesn't seem like that tough of a scrape, right now I see 180 pages of requests, 7 requests per page, I don't think amazon would shut down a scrape of 1260 or so pages per day if done smartly.

According to an email from CEO Alicia Morga sent to various people earlier today, Consorte Media has been acquired. A few rumors have been going around this week, but this is the first confirmation I have seen. No confirmation on the purchaser or price. I suspect we will see details emerge tomorrow or Monday.
I'll be in the SF area Monday through Thursday of this coming week for various meetings and such given many people are in from out of town for Ad-Tech. I don't value the ad-tech show itself much any more, but it does draw a number of people I wouldn't normally get to see to one place at one time.
Right now Monday is looking pretty busy but on Tuesday and Wednesday I have plenty of time available as of now, if you are interested in meeting drop me a line. I'm planning on being near the Moscone pretty much all day tue/wed.
Also looks like I will be a bit south of the city Thursday and possibly Friday as well, and have time available then too if you are somewhere between SF and Santa Cruz.
I will be attending LeadsCon in Las Vegas Feb 23-24, and will be staying in Vegas for a few days afterward. If you are interested in setting up some time to chat with me, please drop me a line, my schedule is pretty clear right now. I'm really looking forward to this one, a few of my old friends and co-workers I haven't seen in a while will be in attendance.
